SALES TAX PASSES

The voters of MCESD # 5 voted for ESD # 5 proposition on May 10,2008; to increase local sales tax from 6.25% to 8.25%. The extra 2% will be used to increase the amount of paid firefighters on duty.

The money will also be used to staff Station 171 located in The River Plantation subdivision whenever these funds become available. This means both stations will be staffed with paid personal around the clock. 

BURNING NOTICE

As of September 1, 2005 new legislation prohibits the burning of household refuse or rubbish in Montgomery County on less than 5 acres of land or within 300 feet of a neighborhood or subdivision.

Violation of this State Law is a Class C Misdemeanor punishable by mandatory Community service and a fine up to $500.
