History
of RPFD
RPFD was founded by a handful of volunteers in 2000, and thus is the
youngest fire department in Montgomery County.
Initially serving the community of River Plantation out of station
171 (next to the country club) with one fire truck, RPFD has since
been tasked by Emergency Services District 5 to provide fire and
rescue services for the 39 square mile area that ESD 5 encompasses
southeast of the Conroe city limits.
36 personnel (1
fulltime fire chief, 27 volunteer professionals, 8 part-time duty
crew members) serve the area out of 2 fire stations and with various
equipment.
RPFD may be the
youngest fire department in Montgomery County, but its members have
years of training and experience to maintain safety and
protection. This is a continuous process that requires time and
dedication 365 days of the year and 24 hours each day.
